Mediation Service

The Scottish Borders Mediation Service is funded by Scottish Borders Council. The Council employs a Mediation and Anti Social Behaviour Orders Manager whose duties were extended from 1st April 2002 to include the additional role of ASBO (Anti Social Behaviour Order) manager. In addition, there is a full time Mediation Officer, a Mediation Assistant and a number of mediation volunteers.

The service is designed to assist people who may be experiencing a conflict. Mediation is about helping people sort out their differences together. Mediation sessions are arranged for neighbours who want to meet and, with the help of the mediators, aim to resolve their outstanding issues. The mediation service is independent, free, private, informal and a voluntary process, available to everyone living in the Scottish Borders. Anyone can make a referral to this service.
