Borders Common Housing Register (CHR) Pilot - homehunt Hawick

Homehunt LogoEildon Housing Association, Scottish Borders Housing Association, Waverley Housing and Cairn Housing Association have implemented the Common Housing Register (CHR) for the Hawick area. If you are looking for social rented housing in Bonchester Bridge, Denholm, Hawick, Newcastleton, Newmill, Southdean, Teviothead or Wilton Dean, just tick the CHR Check box in the 'Contact a Housing Provider' form, instead of sending your application to the individual housing associations.

Scottish Borders Housing Association (SBHA), (CHR)

Scottish Borders Council transferred its housing stock and landlord functions to Scottish Borders Housing Association (SBHA), (CHR) on 3rd March 2003.

SBHA (CHR) currently has around 6,700 properties, 6446 needs properties and 286 units of sheltered housing.

Its stock is well distributed throughout the area but there are concentrations in Hawick, Galashiels and Selkirk. The Association does not own any properties in the Berwickshire area as the former Berwickshire District Council carried out a LSVT to Berwickshire Housing Association in 1995.

A major modernisation and area regeneration programme is scheduled for the next 10 years.

Further information on SBHA’s policies and procedures will be added to the Guide to Housing chapter on Social Housing Providers.
