What is General Needs Housing?

General Needs Housing is categorised by size of property, with a 1-apartment property being a bedsit and a 2-apartment property having one bedroom (along with kitchen, a living room that may at times be combined with the kitchen, and a bathroom).

This type of housing is available to any person over the age of 16 (singles, couples and families) where no special support is required. Some organisations can provide housing support to people living in general needs stock, who may require assistance in maintaining their tenancy.

For further information on support services available in Borders, including services for young people, please see the Guide to Housing Options.
